Full Title History of Western Political Thought
Description Development of political ideas from the Golden Age of Greece until the French Revolution. Relevance of theory to a critical understanding of concrete political and social problems involving power, freedom, equality, justice and action. Political Science 301A emphasizes Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, Aquinas, and Marsilius of Padua. Political Science 301B stresses major political theorists such as Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau.
